CBD oil for you, and the truth about your pets
CBD has found its way into morning routines, gym bags and bedside tables across the UK. It has also found its way into a lot of dog bowls, and that part of the story needs a little more care. Here is the honest picture for both of you.
Everyday wellness for you
Most people who use CBD are not trying to fix anything. They are looking for a small, steady ritual that helps the day feel more balanced. A few drops under the tongue in the morning as part of a calm start. A few more in the evening while the kettle boils. A balm rubbed into hands and shoulders after a long day at a desk or on your feet. CBD works alongside the body’s own endocannabinoid system, the network that helps keep mood, sleep, appetite and skin in balance, and that is exactly the kind of gentle, everyday support it is best suited to.
Our oils are broad spectrum and free from THC, so there is no high, no fog and nothing to worry about at work or behind the wheel. Keep to the Food Standards Agency’s guidance of no more than 10 mg a day, start low, and give it a couple of weeks before deciding what suits you.
And your pets?
Dogs, cats and horses all have an endocannabinoid system too, and there is early research into CBD for animals, particularly around joint comfort and nervous behaviour in dogs. But the law in the UK is clear. Any CBD product intended for an animal counts as a veterinary medicine, and none has yet been authorised. That means we cannot sell or recommend our oils for pets, and neither can anyone else, however friendly the label. The only lawful route is through your vet, who can prescribe a suitable product if they believe it may help your animal.
Why the caution matters
It is not just red tape. Animals process CBD differently from people, doses that suit a human are far too high for a small dog or a cat, and many human oils contain flavourings or carrier oils that are unsafe for animals. Cats in particular struggle to break down some plant compounds. A vet knows your animal’s weight, health and medication, and can weigh all of that up properly. If your pet seems anxious, stiff or unwell, that is a conversation worth having, and it is a conversation for the surgery, not the internet.
The short version
For you: a gentle, plant based way to support everyday balance, made to be enjoyed as part of a routine. For your pets: ask your vet, and be wary of anyone who tells you otherwise. That is not the answer that sells the most bottles, but it is the honest one, and we think you and your animals deserve nothing less.
